What Is Draw No Bet?

Short answer

Draw no bet (DNB) is a bet on one team to win. If your team wins, you win. If the match is a draw, you get your stake back. If your team loses, you lose your stake.

Draw no bet example: Simba vs Young Africans

SimbavsYoung AfricansExample match · example odds · NBC Premier League

Say you stake (the money you bet) TSh 1,000 on Simba draw no bet at 1.65 (example odds).

Result What happens You get back
Simba win (2–1) Bet wins TSh 1,650.00
Draw (1–1) Stake returned TSh 1,000.00
Young Africans win (0–1) Bet loses TSh 0.00

If the match ends 2–1, you get TSh 1,000 × 1.65 = TSh 1,650. Your profit is TSh 650.

If the match ends 1–1, you get your TSh 1,000 back. If it ends 0–1, you lose the TSh 1,000.

How does draw no bet work?

Draw no bet works by removing the draw as a losing result. A draw gives you a refund instead.

There are only two choices:

  • Home DNB: you back the home team. A draw returns your stake.
  • Away DNB: you back the away team. A draw returns your stake.

The bet is usually settled on normal time. Normal time is 90 minutes plus added time.

Draw no bet odds vs 1X2 odds

Draw no bet odds are lower than the 1X2 win odds for the same team. You pay for the draw cover with a smaller price.

1X2 is the normal result bet: home win (1), draw (X) or away win (2). Here is Simba vs Young Africans with TSh 1,000 (example odds):

Bet Odds If Simba win If draw If Young Africans win
Simba win (1) 2.50 TSh 2,500.00 TSh 0.00 TSh 0.00
Simba DNB 1.65 TSh 1,650.00 TSh 1,000.00 TSh 0.00

The 1X2 bet pays TSh 850 more if Simba win. The DNB bet protects your stake on a draw. Read more in our 1X2 guide.

Draw no bet vs double chance

The difference is what you get on a draw. Double chance 1X wins on a draw. Draw no bet only returns your stake.

Example: USh 2,000 on KCCA vs Vipers (example odds). KCCA DNB is 1.80. KCCA or draw (1X) is 1.35.

Result KCCA DNB at 1.80 KCCA or draw (1X) at 1.35
KCCA win USh 3,600.00 USh 2,700.00
Draw USh 2,000.00 (stake back) USh 2,700.00
Vipers win USh 0.00 USh 0.00

DNB pays more if KCCA win. Double chance pays more on a draw. Both lose if Vipers win. See our double chance guide.

Is draw no bet the same as Asian handicap 0?

Yes. Draw no bet and Asian handicap 0 settle in exactly the same way.

Asian handicap gives a team a goal start or a goal deficit. With a 0 handicap, neither team gets a start. So a win pays, a draw is a push (stake returned), and a loss loses.

Some bookmakers show the market as "DNB". Others show it as "AH 0" or "0.0". Compare both prices, because they can differ slightly. Read our Asian handicap guide.

Draw no bet in accumulators

In an accumulator (one bet that joins several picks), a refunded DNB leg usually counts as odds of 1.00. The slip continues with the other picks.

Example: KSh 100 on three DNB picks at 1.60, 1.75 and 1.40 (example odds).

  • All three win: 1.60 × 1.75 × 1.40 = 3.92. You get KSh 100 × 3.92 = KSh 392.
  • The 1.75 match is a draw: 1.60 × 1.00 × 1.40 = 2.24. You get KSh 100 × 2.24 = KSh 224.
  • Any pick loses: the whole slip loses. You lose the KSh 100.

A draw does not kill your slip, but it cuts your payout. Check your numbers in the payout calculator and read our accumulator bet guide.

Common mistakes

  • Thinking a draw is a win. On DNB, a draw only gives your stake back.
  • Thinking DNB cannot lose. If your team loses, you lose your full stake.
  • Mixing up DNB and 1X. 1X wins on a draw. DNB refunds on a draw.
  • Not checking accumulator rules. Most bookmakers count a refunded leg as 1.00, but rules can differ.
  • Ignoring the lower price. The draw cover costs you part of your possible profit.
